San Juan Outfitting

San Juan Outfitting was started in 1979 on the outskirts of Bayfield, Colorado. In 1985, a Durango couple, who had worked for the founder for three years, bought the business. Over the next 23 years, they expanded permits and built a solid reputation for quality service and great hunting. From 2008 to 2013, Mark & Sharon Bracich owned the outfit and continued to offer quality hunts and the best drop camps around. Justin and Mary Adkisson took the reigns of the business in 2013 and will continue to offer their guests quality experiences and lasting memories. The headquarters of the outfit are now located in beautiful Pagosa Springs, CO. Having grown up in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and on the back of a horse, Justin is right at home in the San Juans and leading his horses. He also has been guiding big game for over 15 years and knows what it takes for a successful hunt. You may recognize Justin from TV hunting shows, Primos, Antlter Insanity, and Team Elk. We have a strong crew working along side of us. Jesse Bauer is our Operations Manager and you will find him in the field on most trips and also tending to the horses. Also having been raised in Pagosa, he has extensive knowledge of the San Juans. He has been guiding for over 8 years with his main focus on sheep, elk and mountain lion hunts. Even though Justin is almost always “in the field” with our guests, we know that our wranglers, packers, and hunting guides can also “make or break” your trip. We screen all our applicants very carefully, demanding the highest standards. Our crew also has the high-country in their veins. By far the most important thing to us is customer service--making YOU happy by exceeding your expectations and ensuring you have a great experience. We must be doing something right--we get a lot of repeat guests.
