Mainely Flyfishing

I am guiding for the 2016 season. I am based out of Rangeley Maine and do a lot of guiding for folks who are staying at Grants Camps. In the course of researching my latest book, “Fly Fishers Guide to New England” I have established a network of proven guides for every part of New England including Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and of course, Maine. Beginners or Inexperienced Anglers: My whole family; my wife, two teenage daughters, and young son all fly fish. No need for women or young people to be intimidated if they are inexperienced or trying fly fishing for the first time. I favor a patient approach that emphasizes learning the basics of fly fishing while out in the water fishing to real fish. I can supply the gear that you need or you can bring your own. Experienced Anglers: As a 14-year employee of LLBean, I was introduced to and became friends with a number of well-known expert fly fishers and fly tiers. I have modified their knowledge and techniques to fit the fishing in Western Maine. For the expert fisherman, I enjoy showing advanced streamer, nymphing, and midging techniques, as well as how to tie specialized flies for the region.
