$85,000 for an elk-hunting license in Pennsylvania?

If you drop $85k on an elk hunting license, you'd dang better hire a guide.

A top bid of $85k topped claimed the Pennsylvania Special Elk conservation tag at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Hunter's Rendezvous in Tucson, Arizona in April 2016. This topped the previous year's bid of $52.5k conservation tag which is auctioned off as a fund-raising device to benefit wildlife in Pennsylvania.

The fact that hunters are willing to pay that kind of money for an elk tag speaks for itself. Elk tags are highly coveted, and if you're lucky enough to snag one, you'll definitely want to maximize your chances of bagging a bull elk.

To do that, especially if you're from out of state, you'll want to hire a great guide who knows the area, knows where the elk herds are, and knows their habits.
